It was a turbulent Tuesday in Israel as two Palestinians men opened fire sporadically on innocent civilians in the city of Jaffa and killed seven people while 16 others were severely injured.
The attack which took place a couple of hours before the Iranian missile attacks on several locations in Israel was one of the deadliest ground assaults on Israel since the October 7 Hamas attack.
The Israeli police confirmed that the attackers carried out their attacks in light rail station on Jaffa’s Jerusalem Boulevard, the two Palestinians men were armed with one Ak-47 rifle and a knife and were shot and killed by a passerby and a municipal security guard.
The police said that two of the victims were 30-year-old Lod resident Shahar Goldman and 33-year-old Tel Aviv resident Inbar Segev-Vigder while one of the victims was a 17-year-old girl, the police disclosed.
The Israeli Police further confirmed the identity of the two assailants as Muhammad Khalef Saher Rajab and Hassan Muhammad Hassan Tamimi, who were both in their 20s and were from the city of Hebron in the West Bank.
Prodesq confirmed that the attackers were not permitted to be present in Israel and that the Israeli authorities are investigating how the two assailants were able to obtain access into Israeli territory.
Haim Sargrof, Tel Aviv district commander, has confirmed that there were no other assailants involved in the attack and has called on the public to remain calm.
A large number of police officers and the IDF counterterrorism unit conducted searches in the area, including a raid on the mosque from which the assailants were seen emerging from, the Israeli police arrested several individuals present in the mosque on suspicion of being involved in the attack.
