The Israeli Defense Ministry has confirmed the death of eight of their soldiers on the early hours of Wednesday during a military operation against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

The confirmation marked the first death of an Israeli soldier since the conflict began in Lebanon, the first recorded death was Captain Eitan Itzhak Oster, 22, an army squad commander in the “Egoz” unit, who was killed during combat operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The Israeli defense minister did not specify the exact location cap. Eitan was killed but Hezbollah media reported that clashes occurred between the border towns of Maroun Al Ras and Adaisseh.

Hezbollah further disclosed that its fighters were involved with the Israeli forces who were trying to  infiltrate these towns, which are situated close to the Lebanon-Israel border.

Prodesq war analyst, Temitope Oladeji, gathered that Hamas has also claimed responsibility for the mass shooting that happened at the Israeli city of Jaffa in Tel Aviv, which claimed the lives of seven people.

The attack occurred on the same day the Iranian government attacked Israel with 180 hypersonic ballistic missiles and has since left the region in high tension between Israel, Lebanon and Iran.

However, the United States ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield has issued a stern warning against Iran that it will be held responsible for its actions against Israel.

While disclosing this at an emergency UN meeting she said, Let me be clear: the Iranian regime will be held responsible for its actions… And we strongly warn against Iran, or its proxies, taking actions against the United States, or further actions against Israel.”

She added that the United States has an unwavering commitment and support for Israel against any external threats.
