President Donald Trump, former president of the United States of America.

The former President and Republican presidential candidate has called on Republican lawmakers to shut down the government at the end of the month if Congress refuses to pass a GOP-backed proposal to establish new election rules nationwide.

In his message directly to the Republicans in the United States Congress on the Monica Crowley Show, the former president has urged them to pursue the signing of the link funding the government with the SAVE Act.

He said “I would shut down the government in a heartbeat if they don’t get it,” the former president further disclosed that “It should be in the bill. And if it’s not in the bill, you want to close it up, So I’m not there but, you know, I have influence.”

The act would require proof of citizenship to vote in the next election in a bid to ensure that non-citizens have no right to vote, which is already illegal. This is due to the fact that the Biden administration has witnessed the largest number of immigrants crossing into the country in the last four years since the end of the Second World War.

The act which is currently being reviewed for adoption by the Republican leaders in Congress will pitch them against their Democrat counterparts in Congress. The deadline for the funding of the government is Sept.30, and the Republican-led House will have to consult with the Democrat-led Senate on how to avoid shutting down the government.

The SAVE Act which the Democrats condemned and called a “poison pill”. The two parties are horn-locked and are nowhere close to deciding on a full-year government funding package. This means that a continuing resolution will be inevitable as a last-resort solution.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, who is a Republican, has yet to announce how he plans to address the situation.

Whereas, The National Voter Registration Act of 1996 “requires states to use a common voter registration form, which includes an attestation under penalty of perjury that the applicant is a U.S. citizen,” while “Illegal registration and voting attempts by noncitizens are routinely investigated and prosecuted by the appropriate state authorities, and there is no evidence that attempts at voting by noncitizens have been significant enough to impact any election’s outcome.” President Joe Biden also opposes the SAVE Act, in a statement released by the white house on Tuesday, President Biden said “make it much harder for all eligible Americans to register to vote and increase the risk that eligible voters are purged from voter rolls.”
