One person was killed while another seven were injured after a Tesla Cyber Truck that was parked in front of Trump’s Tower in Las Vegas exploded on Wednesday afternoon.
The Tesla Cyber Truck exploded due to fireworks, camp fuel canisters, and gas canisters that were planted inside by the driver of the vehicle.
The Las Vegas police authorities disclosed that the suspect died inside the Tesla Cyber Truck after it exploded and the seven other people were passersby who suffered from minor injuries.
The Las Vegas police said they are investigating the motive for the explosion, in a statement the police said “This is a Tesla truck, and we know that Elon Musk is working with President-elect Trump, and it’s the Trump Tower,”.
Kevin McMahill, the Sheriff of the Police Department said “So there are things to be concerned about and it’s something we continue to look at.”. In his explanation of the political connection to the incident.
He further revealed that the police authorities know the identity of the person who rented the truck through the Turo app in Colorado, but are withholding the name until investigators confirm if it is the same person who died.
The Sheriff stated that video footage from Tesla charging stations, provided by Musk, assisted authorities in tracking the vehicle’s movements. The vehicle arrived in Las Vegas around 7:30 AM and then drove into the valet area of the Trump International Hotel about an hour later. It remained there for 15 to 20 seconds before the explosion occurred.
Jeremy Schwartz, the acting special agent in charge of the FBI’s Las Vegas office disclosed that “Our number one goal is to ensure that we have the proper identification of the subject involved in this incident,”
He further added “Following that, our second objective truck explosion occurred just hours after a driver crashed into a crowd in New Orleans’ famous French Quarter on New Year’s Day, resulting in the deaths of at least 15 people before police shot and killed the driver”.
However, authorities are investigating the incident as a terrorist attack and believe that the driver may not have acted alone.
United States President Joe Biden said that the authorities are looking into whether the New Orleans incident has any link with the Tesla Cyber Truck explosion in Las Vegas.
Elon Musk took to his social media platform and said “the whole Tesla senior team” was investigating what happened and “we’ve never seen anything like this.”
He further added, “We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cyber Truck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself.”
There had been no official public confirmation of links to terrorism early Wednesday evening
