It was a dark Sunday for the residents of East Baltimore County when multiple shooters opened fire at a gathering which claimed the life of a man and left seven people seriously wounded.
This was disclosed by the Baltimore police commissioner during a news conference with journalists, the commissioner said the shooting occurred around 8pm in the evening. It was unclear what transpired at the scene of the incident but it was reported that a 36 year old man was killed and six other men and a lady are in critical conditions, with age range between 22 years to 45 years old.
The shooting took place at a gathering within the 1300 block of Spring Street, which reported that several shooters were involved in the incident but no arrests nor suspects have been reported yet.
The commissioner in his words said “We’ve got a lot of evidence and we’re looking for a lot of video.”
He further added that several assault rifles were recovered from the scene and that the U.S. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are on ground and are assisting with the investigation.
Baltimore, which has been experiencing heavy downpours since last week but that didn’t stop the efficiency of the police department and first responders who were dispatched to the scene and were able to gather evidence at the scene.
The victims were taken to the area hospital. It was reported that some other victims walked in without the help of the ambulance or first responders.
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, who expressed his concern for the victims and the city, said, “Tonight, Baltimore is grappling with the impacts of another mass shooting that has taken the life of one Baltimorean and irreparably changed several others,”.
The Mayor further said ““To those who know who was involved – even if they are your loved one – I implore you to do the right thing and urge them to take accountability,” he added that ““These tragic acts of violence – which are still too common in our city – are only possible because of the continued ease of access to guns on our streets”.
The Baltimore shooting makes it the 350th shooting in the United States since the beginning of the year, and has left 350 people dead and 1500 wounded, according to Gun Violence Archive.
