Hezbollah’s drone attack on an Israeli military base in central Israel has claimed the lives of four Israeli defense soldiers and left several others severely injured on Sunday.

The attack is regarded as the deadliest the terrorist organization has carried out on Israel since Israel began its invasion of Lebanon two weeks ago.

Confirming the incident the Israeli National Rescue Service said that 61 people were transported to several hospitals in different parts of the country.

Many of the wounded were evacuated to Hillel Yaffe Medical Centre in nearby Hadera while others were taken to hospitals in Tel Hashomer, Haifa, Afula and Netanya.

Hezbollah claimed that the attack was a retaliation to Israel’s attack on Beirut on Thursday last week which left 22 people dead. The Lebanon terrorist organization said its primary target was Israel’s elite Golani brigade.

The attack came as a surprise to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) as to how the drones evaded their superior air defense systems, with the investigation ongoing to avert the same occurrence in the future.

However, Hezbollah has claimed that it fired several missiles into Israel in order to occupy the Israeli Defense Systems so their drones could make their targets.

This is the second time in two days that a Hezbollah drone attack has struck inside Israel. On Saturday, an attack occurred during the Israeli holiday of Yom Kippur, a drone struck a suburb of Tel Aviv, causing damage but no injuries were recorded.

Prodesq war analyst, Temitope Oladeji, gathered that this attack occurred the same day that the United States government sent THAAD air defense systems to Israel to fortify their air defenses against missile attacks after the Israeli Iron Dome air defense system failed against Iranian airstrikes.
