Mallory Swanson’s lone goal against Brazil helped U.S female soccer team secure gold in the Paris Olympic women’s soccer final

by Admin Aug 10 2024  The United States Women’s Soccer team has defeated the samba ladies of Brazil in the women’s Paris Olympic final held today to win its fifth record gold medal. The highly intense match between the two finalists witnessed only a goal difference which was scored by Mallory Swanson in the second half.  The Chicago Red Stars forward broke through the Brazilian defense with a beautiful solo run after being sent through a pass from midfielder Korbin Albert in the 57th minute to give the United States team the lead and secure victory. The United States female soccer team were seen as the underdogs going into the final match against a well known opponent in the Brazil team which paraded the legendary Marta who is six times recipient of the  Federation Internationale Football Association (FIFA) World Player of the Year award (2006–10 and 2018), she was brought in the second half but couldn’t salvage the match for the Brazilians. The Samba ladies had the United States team on the edge of their seats in the 16th minute when a goal by new Chicago Red Stars acquisition Ludmila was ruled offside. That didn’t stop them from pressing forward and outplaying the American side in the first half with the Brazilian team recording eight shots on target compared to their opponents 3 shots on target.  The star of the match was the United States goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher who was at her best to keep the Samba team from scoring a goal, her most impressive performance came in the first half stoppage time with a sensational reflex save in to thwart a first-time, point-blank shot from Gabi Portilho. The second half began in a different direction when the United States team took the bull by the horn and halted the pressure from their opponents.  The Chicago Red Stars goalkeeper was also called into action in the dying minutes of the second half to help secure the victory over the Brazilian team. This is the fifth gold medal for the United States women’s team since the London 2012 Olympic Games when they defeated Japan at the final.  The United States women’s team was ranked fifth in the world female soccer rankings, which is their lowest ranking going into any Olympic competition.

Kamala Harris Reiterates Support for Legislation To Strengthen Border Security and Citizenship Pathway for illegal Immigrants

by Admin Aug 10 2024 United States Vice President, Kamala Harris has reiterated her commitment to support the legislation in their fight against illegal migration into the country.  The vice president who is also the democratic presidential candidate for the next presidential election made this known in her fiery speech delivered at her presidential campaign at Phoenix suburbs.  It was noted that the democratic presidential nominee never made such mention of the topic in her previous presidential campaign speeches in Michigan and Wisconsin earlier this week. This was seen as a deliberate attempt to avoid any possible backlash from the people of Michigan and Wisconsin who were predominantly white voters. Kamala Harris in her speech said “We will move forward and take on the biggest issues facing our nation, for example, the issue of immigration,” Harris told the crowd of supporters. “I was an attorney general of a border state. I went after the transnational gangs, the drug cartels and human traffickers. I prosecuted them case after case, and I won.” The former California senator made a strong case against former President Donald Trump who is the Republican presidential candidate and has always been at the forefront of border security efforts as it was recalled that it was during his administration he began to build the southern border wall.  Kamala Harris accused President Trump of being an hindrance to fixing the border security she said “Donald Trump does not want to fix this problem,”  according to Kamala she further said “Earlier this year, we had a chance to pass the toughest bipartisan border security bill in decades, but Donald Trump tanked the deal because he thought by doing that it would help him win an election.” It was recalled that this is not the first time the vice president has publicly accused the former president of blocking the border security bill, she made such accusations against Donald Trump last month during her campaign rally in Georgia. In response to her accusations, Donald Trump’s campaign office released a statement saying that the vice president should visit a border town to see the level of security and the displeasure among residents.  The vice president admitted that the border security system is broken and that they know how to fix it.  It would be recorded that Kamala Harris has been under fire from Republicans senators and lawmakers because of the mass influx of illegal immigration’s impact from the Northern border wall which borders countries like Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. In 2021 it was recalled that the vice president was tasked with the investigation and security of the northern border region of the country in which the republicans have accused her of failing woefully in her duties as the number two person in the country. In the history of American democracy it has  never recorded such huge numbers of illegal immigration into the country and also the fact that most of these immigrants are being housed and given substantial legal rights and protections.

President Biden Intensify The War In The Middle East By Sending Israel $3.5 Billion Dollars To Procure U.S Weapons Amid Ceasefire With Gaza

by Admin Aug 8, 2024 President Joe Biden earlier today has announced a new round of military funding for Israel in a deal worth $3.5 billion dollars to procure United States weapons despite his administration saying it is working on a ceasefire deal between Israel and Gaza. The department of state said that since the war in Gaza has entered its tenth month despite the wild claim of Israel war crimes against the people of Gaza. This funding comes after the U.S congress in April approved the disbursement of $14.5 billion dollars to aid the Israel government in its war against Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon.  It is disclosed that part of the $3.5 billion dollars will be given to a special Israel military unit that has been accused of several human rights violations against civilians in Gaza since the beginning of the war began ten months ago. The  funding of this Israel special military unit was approved by Secretary of State Anthony Blinken despite strong opposition by Republican lawmakers. Blinken defended his decision that it was necessary to give Israel the needed time to address the wrongful attack carried against them by Hamas on October seven last year.  This additional aid of $3.5 billion dollars makes it a total of $18 billion dollars that the US government has given to Israel in five months.  It can be recalled that Israel prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu was hosted by the US congress less than two weeks ago in which he vowed to deliver a total victory in Gaza and Lebanon. In the last week after Netanyahu’s fiery speech at the Congress, several countries have called on their citizens to leave Lebanon which indicates that the Israel government has planned to extend its into Lebanon against Hezbollah. Several missiles have been fired into northern Israel from Hezbollah in the past week and Israel has been launching airstrikes against Lebanon. Things went from bad to worse after Israel assassinated top Hamas and Hezbollah leaders last week in Iran. The attack which has been condemned by the Iranian government and has prompted the Iranian government to call for a retaliatory strike on Israel in the coming weeks.  This has heightened tensions in the Middle East and has seen US warships move closer into the Gulf region. The heightened tensions has also led to several major attacks on military bases housing US soldiers in Syria and Iraq. Earlier today it was reported that an attack on a base housing US troops in eastern Syria and US military helicopters have been flying over parts of Syria-Iraq border after an attack on a base housing American troops. The recent attack is one of many that has happened in the recent week. Four days ago several US personnel were injured in an attack on a base housing US troops in Iraq.

Its new growth reflects the strength and resilience of your community,” President Biden, in his letter also thanked the first responders of the devastating fire which killed dozens of people and destroyed hundreds of properties.  The President also thanked the world for their efforts in helping the affected communities in their “darkest of  moments”. President Biden reiterates that his administration is committed to revitalizing the affected communities with a federal allocation program of $3 billion dollars.  The Maui fire, which is specifically referred to as the 2023 wildfires in Maui, Hawaii, was a significant and devastating event.  The exact cause of the Maui wildfires is still an ongoing investigation, but experts suggest that it is a combination of dry weather conditions, strong winds, and possibly human activities or malfunctions. The wildfires which resulted in several loss of life and numerous injuries and the total number of casualties is yet to be ascertained as rescue and recovery missions are still ongoing.  Thousands of acres were destroyed , which led to total annihilation of homes, businesses, and infrastructure. Entire communities such as Lahaina and Kula  have been displaced as a result. The wildfires which also caused significant ecological damage, affecting local wildlife and habitats. Environmental experts say that the recovery of the natural environment is expected to take years to recover because such incidents have never occurred before in the history of Maui.  The incident required major mandatory evacuations which were ordered specifically only for the affected areas to ensure the safety of residents while temporary shelters were provided to accommodate displaced individuals. There have been ongoing plans to rebuild and recover the affected communities. This includes focusing on restoring homes, businesses, and infrastructure.  This recovery mission is likely to be a long-term effort which will cost significant financial and logistical resources. International and local community organizations and volunteers have been working together and playing a crucial role to resuscitate the affected communities and also providing immediate relief and long-term support to affected individuals and families. The Maui wildlife incident has led the United States government to open up discussions on future wildfire prevention and mitigation strategies which are currently ongoing. This discussion and efforts includes better land management practices, improved emergency response systems, and public awareness campaigns.
