After the use of a new experimental hypersonic ballistic missile last week, the Russian government launched its largest drone attack since the beginning of the war two years ago.
The Russian military drone attack crippled the Ukrainian power infrastructure in the western region of Ternopil and damaged residential buildings in the Kyiv region.
The Ukrainian air defense shot down 76 drones out of 188 of the drones launched by the Russian military, according to a statement by the Ukrainian Air Force “Unfortunately, there were hits to critical infrastructure facilities, and private and apartment buildings were damaged in several regions due to the massive drone attack”.
The Ukrainian Air Force statement further disclosed “The enemy launched a record number of Shahed attack UAVs and unidentified drones.” The Russian military also launched four Iskander-M ballistic missiles in its overnight attack which also affected the water and disrupted heat supplies, the head of the regional defence headquarters

Vyacheslav Nehoda, the governor of the Ternopil region located in the eastern part of Ukraine where the drone attack was most affected, over 70% of the region lost power after the drone attack.

He further revealed that the emergency services worked overnight to restore the water supply in the morning and the local authorities are looking into introducing planned power cuts in the attack’s aftermath.
Serhiy Popko, the head of the Ukraine military administration disclosed that four residential buildings were destroyed by debris from ten drones shot down by the air defense system in Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital.
