Unknown gunmen attacked Turkey’s aerospace and defense company TUSAS in the capital city of Ankara killing four people and injuring 14 others.
Confirming the unfortunate incident was Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president of Turkey who was informed about the shooting while he was on a telephone conversation with President Putin of Russia.
The president who expressed grievance over the shooting assured the public that the assailants would be hunted down and brought to justice.
Ali Yerlikaya, the Interior Minister of Turkey took to his official X account to inform the public and express his concerns about the incident, he said,
“A terrorist attack was carried out against the Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAŞ) Ankara Kahramankazan facilities”.
He further stated that “Unfortunately, we have martyrs and injured people after the attack… May God have mercy on our martyrs and I wish a speedy recovery to our wounded”.
The Interior Minister however assured that proper investigation will be conducted and further information about the incident will be released to the public as time goes on.
Prodesq crime analyst Temitope Oladeji, disclosed that the security cam footage showed two men with backpacks with Ak-47 rifles getting down from a Volkswagen coupe, unleashing gunfire at civilians from close range.
He further stated that loud explosions were heard in the vicinity and gunshots were fired sporadically by the attackers.
However, the two attackers were neutralized by the Turkish police who were aided by the army in securing and restoring control over the area.
Paramedics and ambulances were on site to transport the wounded to different hospitals in the capital and the dead were evacuated from the scene to a morgue also in the capital.
No group has come forward to claim responsibility for the attack on the aerospace complex.
