Ten Hezbollah operatives have been reported dead while thousands injured when their pagers suddenly exploded in several locations in Lebanon on Tuesday.
Two other children were killed during the attack that left 2800 people injured and hospitalized.
Lebanese authorities disclosed that they are investigating how the attack happened but Hezbollah has pointed fibers to Israel as the perpetrators of the attack.
The attack began around 1:45 pm local time on Tuesday afternoon in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon and 3:45 pm in other parts of the country.
The authorities revealed that the pagers received messages from the Hezbollah leadership which triggered the blast in different locations around Lebanon.
While some analysts believe that some sort of supply chain attack, which involved the pagers being tampered with during their manufacture or while in transit, was more likely.
In other analyses, cybersecurity experts said that the pagers were hacked by Israeli intelligence agencies which definitely involved some deep level hacking which has left cyber security analysts worried about the security of communication channels in the world.
Security officials in Lebanon say that the pagers were packed with a small amount of explosives months before the devices entered the country. Speaking to the BBC, one ex-British Army munitions expert, who asked not to be named, speculated that the devices could have then been triggered by a remote signal.

Firass Abiad, Lebanese Public Health Minister disclosed that “Most of the injuries appear to be to the face and especially to the eyes and also the hand with some amputations, whether it’s in the hands or the fingers, and some of them have injuries to their flanks.”
He also added that “The vast majority of the people who are presenting to the emergency rooms are in civilian clothes, so it’s very difficult to discern whether they belong to a certain entity like Hezbollah or others”.
Furthermore the minister said “But we are seeing among them people who are old or people who are very young, like the child who unfortunately died… and there are some of them who are healthcare workers”.
Prodesq gathered the sons of two Hezbollah MPs and a daughter of another Hezbollah MP were among those killed by the blast.
The most prominent victim of the blast is Mojtaba Amani who is Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon.
