The Israel Defense Forces have revealed that they have recovered bodies of six civilian hostages from Hamas haven in Gaza Strip on Saturday.

This was reported in a statement released by the Israel Defense Force, which said that they found the bodies in a tunnel in the Rafah area of southern Gaza.

Israeli defense spokesman Rear Adm Daniel Haga confirmed the reports and revealed the names of the dead hostages as Carmel Gat, Eden Yerushalmi, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarusi and Master Sgt Ori Danino. He revealed that the hostages were “brutally murdered by Hamas terrorists shortly before we reached them”.

Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister has announced that Israel would not rest until those responsible for their killing are brought to justice even though one of the senior Hamas officials, Izzat al-Rishq, has insisted that Israel should be blamed for the deaths of the Israeli hostages as it has refused to sign a ceasefire deal.

In a statement issued by the Israeli prime minister, he said his government was willing  to achieve a deal to secure the release of those remaining in captivity and protect the country’s security and also made it clear that whoever kills hostages does not want a ceasefire deal to happen.

A statement has been issued by The Hostages Families Forum, a group representing the families of the hostages that were abducted by Hamas militants on October 7 attack on Israel, the group demanded that Israel prime minister should address the nation and also take responsibility for the deaths of the hostages for failing to protect the hostages by delaying the ceasefire agreement.

The group further called for a boycott and demanded to bring the nation to a standstill on Sunday, pleading with the Israeli public to join protests in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and elsewhere in Israel to call for a hostage exchange deal. The group said “murdered in the last few days, after surviving almost 11 months of abuse, torture, and starvation in Hamas captivity”.

The group’s call for boycotts and strike action has been supported by Yair Lapid, who is one of Israel’s most prominent opposition politicians, he said “He prefers saving the coalition with [Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich] and [National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir], rather than saving our children’s lives. This blood is on their heads”.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog said the “heart of an entire nation is shattered to pieces with the news” of their killing.

“On behalf of the State of Israel, I embrace their families with all my heart, and apologize for failing to bring them home safely,” he added.
