A woman in the United States has filed a lawsuit against internet personalities Andrew and Tristan Tate, accusing the two brothers of conspiring to coerce her into sex work while luring her to Romania, and later defaming her after she testified against them.

The civil complaint, filed in Florida on Monday, marks the first legal action against the Tate brothers in the United States.

The brothers, who have faced legal scrutiny in Romania and the United Kingdom, are accused of forming an organized criminal group, human trafficking, trafficking of minors, engaging in sexual intercourse with a minor, and money laundering which the brothers have consistently denied.

Identified as “Jane Doe” in court documents, the plaintiff claims the Tates attempted to intimidate her by suing her for defamation in 2023. Due to safety concerns, the court has granted anonymity to her and her parents.

The lawsuit is the latest in a series of legal troubles for the Tate brothers. In Romania, Andrew Tate was released from house arrest last month but remains under preventative measures as a separate criminal investigation continues.

A previous case against him was dismissed in December after the Bucharest Court of Appeals ruled in his favor, sending the matter back to prosecutors.

Joseph D. McBride, a lawyer representing the Tates, disclosed that no evidence supports the human trafficking allegations and asserted that “the truth is on their side.”

Andrew and Tristan Tate, former kickboxers with dual US and British citizenship, are among the most high-profile figures currently facing human trafficking charges in Romania. As investigations and court proceedings continue across multiple jurisdictions, their legal battles show no signs of ending soon.
